I have my defense ready for when the starving, formerly middle class, masses show up with their pitchforks and torches. “Hey, folks, don’t waste your time on me! We’ve got a Walton heir and a scumbag evangelist just up the road!” That should distract them long enough for me to escape back to California.

There was an article I saw on FB the other day pointing out that a large middle class is not a natural result of Capitalism, but rather is something we made happen intentionally. Without it, you get a few rich people, a smattering of professionals and merchants, and a crapload of poor people. And that’s where we’re headed again.
