As a well educated white person from a stable family, I don’t need the government to focus on me. I have confidence that my problems (such as they are) would also be things the less fortunate need, Social Security and Medicare to deal with being beyond working age, for example. So the government should be focusing their attention on people whose needs are greater than mine. I want them to do that.

its also why most people dont seem to mind paying for insurance coverage they hope to never ‘use’ - auto/accident, home/fire, etc.

for some reason that view doesnt seem to hold up to health insurance where they are more than likely going to need it
