I know families where the dad honestly didn’t realize he was gay— self-delusion is a hell of a drug— and they’re still all screwed up. Can’t imagine how terrible it is to actually know your sexuality but attempt to fight it.

Hell, I’m imagining trying to deny I’m heterosexual and pretend to be homosexual, and it’s just— I wouldn’t last five minutes.

Oh if the roles were truly reversed — social and physical violence, legal restrictions, witchhunts, family estrangements etc — you’d find ways.
