Apparently, Criticizing David Barton is now Proof that he Speaks the Truth

It all ties back in to the Christian persecution complex. You see the Bible (in fact Jesus himself) specifically tells Christians to expect to be persecuted for their beliefs:

“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you…. If they persecuted Me they will persecute you… for they do not know the One who sent Me.”
John 15:19-21

The problem is the meaning of “persecution” has become so distorted and misused. In the Biblical context, Persecution generally referred to something like “being imprisoned and brutally tortured unless you renounce your faith in Christ.” That kind of thing still happens in certain countries around the globe.

Most of the stuff that mainstream American Christians cry “Persecution” about is pedantic at best.

I mean, look at Fisher’s response to the recent article on him:

Fischer variably called the profile “shoddy,” “laughably bad,” “juvenile,” “poorly written,” “unprofessional,” “distorted, misleading, false, and deceptive,” “offensively bad,” and “an embarrassingly bad piece of journalism” that is “like something you would get in a middle school journalism class.” He said that Mayer “ought to be ashamed of herself” and is an “inexcusably bad journalist.”

It’s the same thing. This will empower Bryan Fisher. He more than likely believes this “attack” on him is a form of “persecution” and that’s a very GOOD thing.

I wonder if I should write a page on this stuff, I could go on a lot longer.
