If there is no first cause, no first principle, (i know, redundant) than all of philosophy is a waste of time. The ancients had to assume a principle, and they asserted it was divine, bigger and above mortal man.
God being the Creator is not a theory, it is an assumption. And no matter how far back you go, in terms of cause-effect, one MUST start somewhere.
The big bang is he current scientific theory for that starting point. I agree, by definition faith is an assumption that ideas are true without any proof for those ideas. Why must that start be your god? Why not the Dawkinsian spaghetti monster?
