First of all, you don’t have decades of evidence. The hyperpolitical use of committees only got rolling in the 90s, and the Democrats have had precious little opportunity to do it themselves. That is not evidence the “We don’t do that.” It’s more like we haven’t really had a chance to do it without making ourselves look like idiots. (did you really think they were going to investigate the run up to the Iraq war when so many voted in favor of it?)
And I have argued repeatedly that this is not a law and order problem for Hilary Clinton, it is a political problem. I have said repeatedly that she is not a criminal because of this and that nobody is going to jail, yet that is completely and consistently ignored. And, yes, indeed she has screwed up quite obviously because not only is it obscuring her message, it is obscuring Trump’s problems.
