Needless to say, I’m concerned about getting re-entangled in Iraq, but if Irbil is really in danger from ISIS, then we need to be hitting ISIS from the air. Iraqi Kurdistan is the FUBAR mess that is Iraq’s only real chance at a multi-ethnic democracy, and if they need our help, we must give it to them.

Also, I’m sure Maliki would scream bloody murder if we started handing advanced weaponry to the Peshmerga (they’re still using T-55s?) but fuck him. I’d give the Kurds everything they want in the latest high tech military equipment.

I’m not sure about the last. Would the Kurds have the training and logistics resources to properly use that sort of equipment? (Or would this be something like the Russian military turning over Buks to the Ukrainian separatists where there is little training, insufficient supporting equipment, a probably lack of maintenance, and a nasty accident waiting to happen?)
