I have noticed the same thing too. The Pakistani Muslim communities in Dallas and OKC have accepted me. The Arab ones seem more closed off.

I was cheerfully accepted by Turkish Muslims, be they Sufi or more mainstream Sunni - even Alevis, of course, and Shi’ite.

Arab Muslims, well…….they always gave me the side-eye, LOL. They probably thought I was an intelligence services agent or something. Fortunately, in Berlin Kreuzberg, the majority of Muslims are Turkish, and they’re pretty welcoming. Of course, there’s the Milli Grs bunch, but I tended to steer clear of them. They’re a little……….intense.
