So until proven otherwise, I just figure all the GOPers and GOPer-lite types among US voters will gladly vote for an NRA lickspittle to spite libruls even if they think assault weapons are too easy to get. This is just how ~62 million American voters roll, brainwashed Fox cultists who’ll crap all over their own best interests just to stick it to the libs.

What we do have going for us is the untapped reserve of non-voters who might finally realize they can make a difference when they show up.

Valid point. The reverse is also true. For instance, I have a handgun (target shooting in a previous life) and a rifle (professional reasons), both of which are dismantled and have been for years. My husband was a hunter and had guns and he was all for the ban on assault weapons, a point Belafon also noted. I do not agree that all GOP voters are all-in on guns, in fact I think many if not most of even them would support assault weapons bans and increased gun restrictions. Of the GOP voters I know, guns are not their reasons for voting that way. The volume of the voices on Fox and Twitter are not indicative, IMO, of actual numbers.
