I read “Coming Apart” a couple years ago, kind of by accident, as the subtitle was intriguing and I didn’t recall Murray’s name and previous work. To say his logic is flawed would be an understatement.
He was inclined to blame people in a no-win financial situation for their problems, ascribing it essentially to a lack of moral character.

Ironic that Murray and his acolytes tend to believe that anything bad or negative that happens to someone is that person’s fault until the end of time, whether it really is or not; yet, when they fuck up, those who prescribe a stiff dose of “personal responsibility” for everyone else show anything but.
