I don’t think they do, at least not in the sense of a coordinated and official security apparatus. I’m sure there are plenty of private CCTV cameras.

Like I said, they are using this one because it has the best picture of the guy.

I watch Law and Order UK. The biggest difference in that show vs the NY show is the use of CCTV cameras for the investigation part. It’s much more prominent in the UK show and it’s much more creepy. For instance they regularly rule people out as suspects by going to the CCTV cameras by their homes and seeing the guy go in and this time and come back out at this time. They much more easily track a suspects movement through the CCTV security system.
