If it’s less than abuse but rather a bad attitude, what consequence should this have, if any? If uncle Eddy and aunt Martha can be reasonably assumed to be better parents than the actual biological ones, would it be the right of the government to assign Eddy and Martha as actual guardians and take them away from their biological parents, simply because the latter haven’t gotten over their anti-gay attitudes, yet?

This is getting awfully murky.

IF the kid is threatening to take their own life, or if the kids behaviour is being affected - maybe removal is a good answer.
