I think Trump could have easily lost a two person GOP primary vs. either Cruz or Rubio.

The chaos of having 17 Republican contenders really helped Trump, IMO.

Trump benefited from the GOP’s plurality “winner take all states.” Mr. Trump, especially in the initial contests, won with a fraction of the “not-Trump” vote.

If there had not been seventeen candidates in the GOP Primary, we would not be looking at a fascist talking yam as the candidate of one of our nation’s major political parties.
