When you think about it, though, the religious right in particular is extremely heavy on authoritarianism. They preach a strict system of submission - women submit to men or burn in hell; men submit to pastors or burn in hell; pastors ostensibly submit to Jesus, but we all know the rules don’t apply to the people in charge. Everything going on in the wingnut right derives in some form or fashion from hyper-conservative evangelicalism.

The Religious Right to be frank has more in common win the Taliban than the inspiration for our founding documents.
