If the only thing that Libby did was lie under oath, then Bush would have been well within his rights to pardon him. However, there is what Fitzgerald could and did prove and there is what Bush knew. And Bush chose to not pardon Libby.

Bush made a calculated decision, a political decision IMHO.

I’d have pardoned Liddy, personally, after i let him serve a little time for lying. It is simply not a crime to reveal the identity of an employee who is not “undercover”. I don’t know why that was so hard for the national media back then.

I’m not excusing Libby’s perjury…just saying that there was no meat to the scandal.
