Direct Marketing—wouldn’t mind if they went away. These SOBs account for most of my mail anyway—mail I don’t want. They are about the only thing keeping the USPS afloat these days. That and the taxpayers.

Not to be rude, but not everyone feels the same way about direct marketing as you do. According to this article, direct mail still accounts for $50 billion dollars in US spending.

Print media— going away fast…should just go online. It’s cheaper than print. Why subsidize wasting all that paper/killing all those trees?

As long as people read in the bathroom, there will be a need to print magazines :)

Mail order companies/Ebay—can still deliver via UPS or Fed Ex.

The USPS is an outmoded, expensive, and unnecessary organization that has outlived its usefulness. It encourages the wasting of paper, energy, and taxes. Shouldn’t left leaning folks like the idea of reducing paper, saving energy, and reducing cutting of forests? The point of the postal service was to ensure communication for our country when modern means did not exist. We have other ways of doing that without them now.

You still haven’t proven your point that the post office has no effect on the economy just that it could be done away with. I don’t think you can reasonably claim that there would be no impact.
