re: #546 engineer dog
when i was first working as a programmer professionally, back in 1985, i used to remind people that we are living in the primitive age of the computer industry
still true today
in ten years, we’ll be talking about how hard it used to be to get a good signal on your iphone in some places, and how long wireless downloads used to take
in 20 years you’ll see a picture of an iphone 4 in a magazine with a caption about “remember when a phone looked like this?”
I figure in 10 years, we’ll remember what a “laptop” was and what it was like before WiFi was everywhere.
In 20, we’ll tell people what it was like when you had a “desktop” and how you used to keep compressed air around to keep your computer from frying itself from all the dust.
