re: #548 Obdicut

Do you understand that AGW is going to prompt our involvement in even more wars?

Our current trade policies and burning food for fuel has done more to increase the price of food than AGW. The US is pushing out grain at record rates and yet the price of food stuffs keeps climbing.

Er… how is this a threat?

Whether we like it or not we’re the only world power that has enough military resources when they’re needed. Cut backs across the globe are going to put even more of a stress on US troops.

Again… a threat in what way?

The role of the military it to fight. When you put troops in a war zone to act as ambassadors it increases the likelihood they’ll never see the bullet/IED that gets them.

A problem, definitely. But how is that a bigger problem than AGW?

Bringing in dirtbags leads to:

Which sucks. But again— how is that a real threat?

You’ve never been an E1 earning $1000/mo while living in a dirthole in a 3rd world country. If more people had been they would have understood why it was so irritating hearing people say they’re no worse off than the rest of the federal employees during a shutdown.

Do you understand that the military’s projections of the effects of AGW is that there’s going to be a ton more wars, millions more refugees, every naval base facing rising water, etc.?

That’s a long-term guess. I’m a little more concerned with what’s happening now and what we’re facing over the next couple of decades.
