The “moonbat” and “wingnut” were meant to imply rigid support of implied conservative and liberal positions, without rational thought or critical thinking.

I have observed most people at LGF to be in the “sane” bucket. Left, right, or otherwise. Lots of thoughtful disagreement, highly differentiated opinions, but at the end of the day the ability to recognize facts and, when necessary adjust their own views and positions.

You seem to be in the group as well.
