I had an Akai and another brand ‘Reel to Reel’ decks-in fact I had 2 stereo setups with reel to reel. Made like 200 plus 4 hour tapes, but the tapes aged and the tape decks crashed….but yes, we’ve seen lots of technology change in each decade since about the 50’s…….

I still have my Akai reel to reel. Whenever I talk to our kids friends, who are all in their 30’s they always ask “What’s a reel to reel”?
It still works well but tape is impossible to find.
