One difference in design philosophy - in the Airbus aircraft, the flight control computer has absolute authority to enforce its programmed limits to avoid damaging the aircraft.
In Boeing aircraft, the pilot can override the limits if he feels it is necessary, like to avoid crashing.
There has been at least one Airbus crash (a demo flight) due to the computer’s limits.

“Sorry, Dave, I cannot do that”. CRASH!

Isn’t that a nice analogy for European vs American philosophy in general? er, maybe it was….
