But Obama is president. It doesn’t matter what some other hypothetical president might have done. Obama’s mistakes are the ones that have the potential to kill us. His mistakes are the ones we have to live with, so his mistakes are the ones we have to try to prevent.

Yep, but both ran on the promise of closing Gitmo, and one of them had to win. If you thought that closing Gitmo was a mistake, you were royally screwed either way.
Now you have a year to convince Obama to your side, and I fully support your being the loyal opposition.
