I’m in favor of both great self driving cars and great public transport. To me the latter should also be lux and free. (e.g. like a first class air accommodation with internet, etc, etc,) If we are going to lure folks away from private transport then we’ve got to make public transport more appealing.

The problem is, that takes money, and Republicans are against spending money on anything that actually makes people’s lives better. They only want to spend money when it 1) makes ordinary people miserable, or 2) makes rich people even richer.
