Something a lot of people don’t get is that Walter’s conversion is really being shown as a sincere one. Orthodox Jews don’t allow converts easily, and you have to convince a bunch of guys who are not easily impressed and probably weirded out that you want to convert that you have the faith and the knowledge to be a practicing Jew.

It is not like becoming born-again for the sake of a marriage. It is one of the hardest religions to convert into, especially for someone with zero Jewish roots.
