Speaking of the Secret Service:
In 1999, my hometown had a massive fire in which 6 firefighters were killed. It was horrible (my cousin was in the building and survived), so Bill Clinton came to town to speak at a Memorial Service. The newspaper told everyone that his arrival time, route, etc. were classified information (natch). But they also said that he’d be landing at the local (semi-defunct) airport. The airport has only two roads that lead from it to downtown. One of those routes was the street I lived on (in a three-decker). Nobody ever talked to me or my neighbors (as far as I know) and I watched the motorcade drive directly under my window on the day of the service. Nothing could have stopped some psycho from attacking the motorcade if that psycho happened to live in the ‘hood or read the newspapers.
Maybe they had it covered, but I don’t see how.
