The original Wendy’s was on Eat Broad Street in downtown Columbus. I think it opened in 1969. I started at Columbus College of Art & Design in 1972. Our apartment/dorms were about three blocks away. If I remember at that time a single was $0.69 and a double was $0.99. Fries were $.49 and a medium drink was $0.49.

Yeah…we pigged out big time. Starving artists and all.

$2.00 to $3.00 bucks and you were good to go. I’m not sure, but I think that same single today is 10 times as much.

I knew people back then that dipped their fries in their Frosty. You are not alone.

Dad and I BOTH did that when we went to the original Wendy’s. Dad downed a full side of chili along with a triple, Frosty and Fries.

Still remember Dad saying. “DAMN, Now that’s NOT McDonald’s!”
