He invented the GIF file format, he didn’t invent how letters and words are pronounced. The letters in acronyms are pronounced the same as the word they represent. The word “Graphic” is not pronounced with a soft-G or J sound at the beginning so neither would GIF. I don’t give a rat’s ass what that guy says.
