When my younger female cat is in heat she does the bump & grind with chair legs. It’s really cringe inducing when I have company over.

Oh yes - they love the chairs. Mines will stand on the chair, with her front paws on the back,and rub her head on the corner.First it starts of with a low but impossible to ignore purring whimper, gradually building up over about 10 minutes to raucous sexual screaming and roaring. It’s like that scene from “When Harry Met Sally” all over again.
