the age group argument is really a red herring
there are lots of high risk groups
it’s just that age is (more or less) apparent merely by lookingwhy should anyone have to risk their life or even die just so you dont have to wear a mask?
While I agree with the sentiment as applied to a novel pandemic, there obviously have to be limits to this. I imagine you could reduce deaths due to flu and other respiratory diseases if we all just wore masks all the time forever, but I don’t think anyone is seriously recommending that. So as unpleasant as it is to think of, there is some point on some actuarial table where the losses are “acceptable”
