Eric Shinseki has tunnel vision. Which is why there wasn’t too much hew and cry when he was dissed by Rummie. He badly handled the proposed transition engendered by the Stryker units with the Heavy, or Legacy, Force commanders. Having been one himself they felt betrayed by his actions. The problem was that Shinseki was trying to form an elegant solution to the Cold War force requirements; a scenario which had already ended long before.

No doubt he sees some elegant solution to long term Veteran health care that takes the often inept VA out of the picture. The problem is that, once again, it will be seen as a betrayal…as well as unrealistic…by his constituency.
