I don’t think it was fake, I think he’s being undermined and put into positions where he really is being forced to act by police supposedly serving under his command, not to mention the actions of officers he has no control over, like the Ferguson PD chief.

Who is shooting the tear gas. And why? (I missed the beginning of this tonight. Forgive the uninformed question. )
