The Spanish Civil War was sort of like the Syrian Civil War - there weren’t really any “good guys”. You effectively had communists fighting fascists. So saying the “right team won” is like saying the right team won when the Yankees play the Red Sox.

More complicated than that, at least on the left, but “A pox on both your houses!” would have been an entirely reasonable response. Of course, that is NOT what Rod did….
