This phrasing has always seemed to me completely illogical; if one truly believes in a supreme being who is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent, there is no threat at all from puny human actions ‘taking’ this entity out of anything.

So true.

Plus there’s a big difference between taking God out of America, and taking God out of Americans. No one is taking God away from believers.

As I said upthread, if God can survive the might of the Roman Empire, he can survive Macy’s, or some mosque on the corner of some random street.
