Has the rationale for the dings ever been a topic? I saw the original post from when they got started, but never saw much until today about it. When I first registered I thought it was about rudeness or F bombs or some such. I see it seems to penalize for more than just that sort of thing. More about opinions/positions seen as lame or trollish.

Each poster ha their own rationale. Some will down ding you no matter what you post - they are still mad at you for something you posted last week month.

Me - I rarely downding - and if I do I comment why.

I give updings if you make me laugh, if I strongly agree, or if I like a link.
