I honestly don’t recall that quote, but it is offensive. He could have said he made mistakes in his leadership, but “betraying” is a buzz word that was not appropriate.

You must have heard it. He bellowed it in stentorian voice. “HE BETRAYED US. HE PLAYED ON YOUR FEARS”
Very much the same tone of voice as when he said “THE DEBATE IS OVER”………
