re: #40 A Cranky One

Got a text indicating that PayPal had paid around $600 from my account to buy Bitcoin.

Of course, nothing showed up at PayPal and I know that I sure as hell wasn’t buying any crypto.

It was a pretty obvious scam. Seems like scammers are faking PayPal messages to commit fraud.

Time to close my PayPal account.

Why? You said it yourself, scammers are faking messages from anyone and everyone; it’s not going to matter if you have a PayPal account or Norton subscription or anything else. No need to inconvenience yourself for something scumbags are going to send thousands/millions of others in order to get some bites.

What matters is never, ever click links in messages like these, even if they are purportedly from someone you do business with; always manually log in to those services you use using known-good links to double-check suspected phishtales.
