So to summarize: the consumer price index is inaccurate. Could use harshser words to describe it I suppose. Scam comes to mind.

‘Selective’ may be less harsh. The only true inflation figures that matter to the individual consumer are those that measure the rise (or fall. don’t laugh, it’s happened before. happened for twenty years after the Civil War) in prices on those items that you purchase, especially those purchases made on an ongoing basis.
