You don’t need a geology degree to know which side of the San Andreas fault is more likely to run into serious trouble.

However, thinking about the New Madrid faults ought to give any cynic/pessimist east of the Rockies plenty of material to work with.

I like living in Northern Wisconsin.

Stable, the faults haven’t had an issue in millions of years, lots of water, and far enough from Missouri that New Madrid would maybe ring a church bell. Maybe.

All we have is encampments of Posse Commatatus & Nazi loons out hiding in the woods…
