I have never been to Lubbock, but your description reminds me of the driving I witnessed in Dallas over 30 years ago. I have driven in NYC, Boston , Chicago and DC, and seen lots of, shall we say, “assertive” driving——-people driving in horrible, congested traffic trying to make the best of a bad deal——-but for wanton, willful, spiteful recklessness there is nothing like a Texan behind the wheel. My apologies to the innocent residents out there who suffer daily from the transgressions I allude to, but Shiplord Kirel told it like it is. There are just too many Texans who delight in speeding up or changing lanes just to make life difficult for someone on an entrance ramp!
