This is really about the police not following procedures, not “future crime”. The perp was convicted of “intent to manufacture”, not actually manufacturing. So “fixing to” cook meth is actually illegal.

I don’t understand why the dissenting judge (Meyers) felt that a CI’s information about someone “fixing to” commit a serious crime isn’t enough for a warrant. An anonymous tip, yes, but shouldn’t a CI have more weight than that?
