I don’t see it happening; it would enrage the Base that they need to get elected. Trump is safe as long as he is more popular with GOP voters than Congress is, and Congress is deeply unpopular.

You know what, though, given McConnell’s actions lately… I’m not entirely sure they want to be in the majority, at least with a Republican president. It’s easy and kind of fun to be the majority when the other party holds the White House, but now they’re actually responsible for shit. They have nobody to blame but themselves if things go to shit. Maybe they wouldn’t really mind losing 3-4 seats in the Senate?
