Around here, we’ve made massive investments in burying our power lines. There are still some aerials around, but our power is far more reliable than it was when we moved in 13 years ago. I probably should check the generator this spring and see if I can even get it to run.

Yeah, I don’t understand it. But we also have relatively fewer homes with full basements here due to granite. Maybe that has something to do with it? I honestly don’t know. It could be done. Blasting granite is a big industry here, so it’s not like we don’t have experience or tools. In our townhouse community there was a major honing of trees and limbs last summer (we live basically in a forest). Hopefully that will help.
