Now that I think about it, there’s no way that Graham or other senior Senate Repubs are gonna put a hold on the hearings or even cancel them. They’ve already committed to sacrificing their careers, their health isn’t really that much of an ask at this point.

That’s what was said a few moments ago on MSNBC — they are moving forward with the hearings. Let’s see what happens IRL — the world comes after you quickly.

My family was very poor; my father was a wonderful person but a high school dropout (1924 — when he left school in his senior year) and did not find his footing while we were growing up. His one “vice” was being an avid reader and occasionally buying books we could not afford. One book that seared itself in my memory was a collection of Edgar Allen Poe tales, with bizarre and terrifying illustrations gracing the stories. And one that I recall (though last reading it about 60 years ago) was “Masque of the Red Death” — the wealthy fleeing to a castle in the countryside to escape a plague and enjoying themselves there far from the city only to ultimately discover that one of the guests was death — who touched everyone who then perished. Let’s see whether the Washington GOP escape their just fate and continue with their deplorable plans to impose Barrett on our nation.
