re: #588 Killgore Trout

Thanks, but it’s unfortunately rare. When LGF was still a right wing blog we tried to warn them about the Tea Party. Very few people will listen. It’s a frustrating aspect of American politics. It just seems most people rely on base instincts and partisan catch phrases with no ability to see beyond their own impulses.

The only thing I have a problem with in your statements and this is an issue for another day is that I think the “military industrial complex” is not something that should be considered out and out “radical bullshit” in and of itself. As of 2009 America was spending 42.8 % of the worlds total expenditure on military spending en.wikipedia.org so I do think it’d be silly to say that happened by accident.

Now obviously I don’t claim that there’s a shadowy cabal of companies that are secretly in charge of the US that are going to pull the necessary strings to get us into wars to drive up their own profits. I’m just saying that there’s are people who make money building weapons and to claim they don’t have a voice in Washington would be silly.

Sorry about picking a nit with such a small part of your post but I don’t think all complaints about the “military industrial complex” are moonbat lunacy the way one might comprehend your phrasing (and if you meant it some other way I’m sorry I failed to grasp your point).
