Trump, for once, is showing genuine fear in canceling the Heritage Forum appearance with less than a day’s notice. He’s terrified of having to talk about the shit that went down yesterday. He can’t just come right out and defend the asshole who called Obama a Muslim, and he’ll look like a coward to his base if he admits Obama is a Christian. He can’t get into the minutia of whatever ethnic cleansing policy he would enact, or “look into” to use his parlance, and he can’t continue with his Christians are the real victims DARVO much longer either given the exact nature of the hate speech he condoned. He can’t further legitimize the lie that there are islamist terror camps in the US without being called on that by the fact-checkers, and he couldn’t possibly avoid the question either if he went to the forum.

Only a total fucking idiot would buy that business transaction excuse, but then only a total fucking idiot would support him to begin with. Right now his campaign is furiously huddling trying to figure out the magic sequences of words that will dig them out of this hole, when everyone knows the only way to get out of a hole is to stop digging.
