OK. I’ve read that Rage Furby rant three times now and I still have no idea what the fuck he’s trying to say.

He’s talking about hazing. He uses terms like “violation of the taboo” and “intended to strip away all niceties of conversation,” but what he really means is hazing. He thinks it builds “intimacy & cohesion” because that’s the effect hazing is intended to produce among young, predominately male, gang-mentality subcultures. The abuse is both part of the self-selection process, anybody who won’t put up with it opts out, and is the mechanism by which those who stay are brainwashed into thinking they’re stronger for having allowed themselves to endure it.
