IMO they really achieved a sound when Charlie Watts matured as a drummer. He had a sleazy loping style (think Memo from Turner) that had a lot of groove to it. It made the whole band sound better.

Watts was the backbone of the band…one of the greats…they all looked to him for advice and ‘permission’…he evolved just like the rest of them….a true gentleman and music scholar
