I don’t hear the song as a call to moral passivity. It does tell people they can find solace in faith for things you cannot change, such as a sick & dying loved one. Sometimes the morally active thing to do is to accept the inevitable with grace. And by “grace” I don’t mean good manners or passivity, but by living, acting and believing in a higher moral purpose.
