It’s entirely likely that the very poorest pay a lower percentage— I certainly hope so. However, the main point remains. Buffet’s point remains: he pays a lower percentage in taxes than his secretary does.

Moreover, if you analyze it though other metrics, you can look at it other ways. What percentage of the wealth of a poor person goes to taxes, versus the ultra rich? That number is a hell of a lot higher, given that the poor have close to zero wealth anyway.
