Well, that leaves him pretty much fucked. Putin’s not likely to suffer his presence much longer now that he’s no longer a whistleblower seeking asylum in Russia but is instead an international fugitive taking up residency on Russian soil.

Putin says Russia doesn’t give anyone up. He didn’t say it was Snowden’s choice whether he leaves the country or not. He may just say, oh, let him stay in the terminal until some country accepts him, but take away his computers…check back in August and see where he wants to go.
